The VC volleyball team's tour of Southern California continued Wednesday at the Pasadena City Quad Tournament. The Pirates fell to Mt. San Jacinto in four sets in the opener before being swept by the host Lancers. Brianna Finch had 21 kills to lead VC (4-7) offensively while Sariah Flores had 27 digs in the two matches.
Ventura 1, Mt. San Jacinto 3 (18-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20)
Ventura cam out strong taking the first set 25-18 before falling in the next three, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20. Armonee Hunter and Finch each had 11 kills while Braxton Jessie recorded 10. Mikayla Spears handed out 21 assists and Rachel Howery had 18. Meanwhile Flores had 18 digs and Spears and Jessie each put up seven.
Ventura 0, Pasadena 3 (25-21, 25-16, 25-17)
The Pirates dropped the nightcap in straight sets to PCC. Finch and Hunter had 10 and six kills, respectively, and Jessie led VC with 12 digs. Howery recorded 14 assists and Spears had 11 helpers.
The Pirates will return home to the Athletic Event Center on Friday Sept. 16 for a 6:00 pm match against Mt. San Antonio College.
