The Pirates women's basketball team had four players honored on the All-Western State Conference team as determined by conference coaches following the regular season last month. Kenya Edelhart, Kylie Gallick and Sofia Torres-Reyes all earned their second straight first team All-WSC honors while Alisha Cruz-Lisberg was named Honorable Mention All-WSC.

VC Women Can't Maintain Advantage in Playoff Loss

The Pirates' women's basketball team played their best game of the year for the first three quarters Saturday. The No. 12-seed led No. 5 Cypress 58-50 headed to the fourth quarter before losing the momentum against the Chargers, who put together a stellar final period for the 79-67 result. Kylie Gallick recorded her 22nd double-double in 28 games with 18 points and 19 rebounds while Sofia Torres Reyes added 17 points. Kenya Edelhart and Alisha Cruz-Lisberg totaled 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Pirates (20-9).

Cruz-Lisberg Lifts Pirates Over Cerritos

Alisha Cruz-Lisberg had a career night, scoring 23 points on 9-14 shooting from the floor and a 5-7 night at the free throw line as Ventura defeated Cerritos 63-51 Wednesday in the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs at the Athletic Event Center. Kenya Edelhart had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists while Kylie Gallick recorded her 21st double-double of the year with 10 points and 14 boards as No. 12-seeded VC moves on to face No. 5 Cypress in the second round on Saturday.

VC Comeback Falls Short at Hancock

After falling behind by as many as eight points in the second quarter, the Pirates' women's basketball team came all the way back, only to drop a 67-61 decision to the bulldogs in Santa Maria Friday. Sofia Torres Reyes totaled 19 points, including 5-7 shooting from three, and Kylie Gallick recorded her 20th double-double of the year with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Tiernan Phillips came off the bench to score 10 points with eight boards.

Gallick Leads Pirates Past Vaqueros

In an extremely physical contest, VC's Kylie Gallick sliced Santa Barbara up for the Pirates' first-ever 30-20 double-double leading to a 61-43 Ventura victory. The sophomore scored a career high 32 points with 21 boards and added five steals to pace VC while Kenya Edelhart scored 11 points with six boards and three assists. Jasmine Glover netted seven points for Ventura (19-7, 8-3) and Alina Olivo dropped three dimes in the win.

Ventura Routs Pierce in Ribbons of Life Game

Through another whole team effort the VC women's basketball team routed visiting Los Angeles Pierce 101-47 Wednesday at the Athletic Event Center. Six Pirates had six players score in double figures, led by Sofia Torres-Reyes' 19 points, including five made 3-pointers. All nine Pirates who played scored and contributed across the statistics sheet as they posted the team's highest point total since a 103-63 win over Orange Coast on March 5, 2014.

Pirates Can't Overcome First Quarter Deficit at Moorpark

Despite outscoring Moorpark in each of the last three quarters, the Pirates' women's basketball team could not overcome a sluggish first period on their 64-52 setback at Moorpark Saturday afternoon. VC trailed 22-7 with eight turnovers 10 minutes into the game before getting untracked the rest of the way. Kenya Edelhart led the effort with 20 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, with three assists and Kylie Gallick netted 12 with nine rebounds.

VC guard Kenya Edelhart scored 26 points on 11-13 shooting from the floor and forward Kylie Gallick had a double-double of 14 points and 20 rebounds as the Pirates dominated from the opening tip in their 80-47 win at Cuesta Wednesday in San Luis Obispo. Ventura (17-6, 6-2) outscored the Cougars 20-1 in the opening quarter to begin the rout. Sofia Torres-Reyes added 14 points while Jasmine Glover and Alisha Cruz-Lisberg each added nine.

Pirates Overmatch Condors in Big Victory

The Pirates' women's basketball team overmatched visiting Oxnard Saturday with a 93-73 victory at the Athletic Event Center. Sofia Torres-Reyes scored 20 points and Jasmine Glover came off the bench for a career-high 16 points to lead a 43-point effort by the VC bench. Kenya Edelhart netted 14 and Tiernan Phillips shot 5-5 from the floor for 10 points. The 70-point margin of victory Wednesday was the largest for the Pirates since Ventrua defeated LA Pierce 114-39 on Feb. 12, 2014.

For the first time in three years, the Ventura College women's basketball team honored its favorite teachers following its game Wednesday at the Athletic Event Center. For the 16th time, members of the Pirates' sophomore class each selected a "Favorite Teacher" based on their own personal criteria. Solid Defense Powers Double-Digit Pirate Win

The VC women's basketball team traveled to Santa Barbara on Wednesday, historically a difficult place for the Pirates to play, and used a solid defensive performance in their 55-41 victory over the Vaqueros. Kenya Edelhart had 16 points and seven assists to lead the way while Kylie Gallick recorded her 16th double-double of the year with 13 points and 15 rebounds. The Ventura defense held SBCC to just 10 made field goals and 30 percent shooting in building a 47-25 margin through three quarters in the triumph.

Ventura Races Past Pierce For Team Win

The Pirates' women's basketball team raced to a 10-2 lead barely three minutes into the game with all five starters recording a field goal in their 77-33 rout of Los Angeles Pierce Saturday in Woodland Hills. Alisha Cruz-Lisberg hit her first seven shots of the contest to post a team-high 16 points while Kenya Edelhart totaled 10 points with six steals and six assists and Kylie Gallick netted 10 with six rebounds. Every Pirate who played scored in the team win for VC (14-5, 3-1).

VC Drops Conference Contest to Moorpark

The VC women's basketball team got off to a fast start but could not sustain the momentum, dropping a 64-44 decision to visiting Moorpark Wednesday at the Athletic Event Center. Sofia Torres-Reyes scored 13 points to lead Ventura (13-5, 2-1) while Kenya Edelhart and Jocelyn Contreras netted 10 and nine points, respectively. Kylie Gallick pulled in 12 rebounds to lead VC.

Pirate Defense Locks Down Cuesta in Victory

The VC women's basketball team outscored visiting Cuesta 19-0 in the third quarter, and the Pirate defense held the Cougars to 30 percent shooting and forced 28 Cuesta turnovers in Ventura's 77-34 victory Saturday night. Kylie Gallick put up another double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds and Kenya Edelhart netted 15 points with six steals and a pair of assists. Alisha Cruz-Lisberg tallied 13 points with two dimes and Sofia Torres-Reyes grabbed eight steals defensively while hitting for 12 points for VC (13-4, 2-0).

Pirates Fall in 2022 Finale in Optimist Classic

The VC women's basketball team dropped a 53-44 decision to visiting Glendale Friday in the final game of the VC-Optimist Club Holiday Classic at the Athletic Event Center. Kenya Edelhart scored 15 points with two assists and two steals while Sofia Torres-Reyes netted a dozen with four steals and three dimes. Kylie Gallick pulled in 11 rebounds to lead the Pirate Windex crew while scoring eight points. Alisha Cruz-Lisberg scored seven in the final game of 2022.

Pirates Hold On for Victory Over El Camino

The Pirates' women's basketball team endured a poor shooting second half, along with El Camino's best shooting quarter of the year in VC's 60-53 victory on the first day of the VC-Optimist Club Holiday Classic Thursday evening. Ventura was 8-33 from the floor in the second half, but still outlasted ECC's 6-8 3-point performance in the opening period. Jocelyn Contreras netted 15 points in the win while Kenya Edelhart and Alisha Cruz-Lisberg scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Strong Third Lifts Ventura past East LA

The VC women's basketball team used a strong third quarter to turn a two-point deficit at halftime into a a five point advantage headed to the final period in their 67-61 victory at East Los Angeles College Wednesday. Kylie Gallick recorded her 12th double-double in 13 games with 14 points and 16 rebounds and Kenya Edelhart led the offense with 17 pooints in the game. Jocelyn Contreras poured in 14 points with seven boards and Sofia Torres-Reyes netted nine with six caroms. Jasmine Glover scored eight in the win.

Double Double-Doubles Lead to Pirate Win

Sofia Torres-Reyes and Kylie Gallick both posted double-doubles with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and 12 points and 10 boards, respectively, and Kenya Edelhart scored 14 points with seven assists as the Pirates' women's basketball team posted a 79-73 victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech Saturday. Valiant Effort by Pirates Falls Short in OT

Despite a valiant effort by the Pirates' women's basketball team, VC fell just short in overtime Saturday in the championship game of the Buddy's All-Star Classic at LA Valley, dropping a 75-67 decision to Cypress. Kylie Gallick continued her inspiring play with 27 points and 14 rebounds, often times with two and three defenders draped over her arms, and Kenya Edelhart had 12 points , four rebounds and four assists. Sofia Torres-Reyes totaled 10 points with five dimes while Alisha Cruz-Lisberg totaled eight.

VC Outlasts Inspired Monarchs in Tourney Semi's

An inspired opponent and an emotional letdown from a big game the night before could have been a bad recipe for the Ventura College women's basketball team Friday. Instead, the Pirates, who trailed LA Valley by 13 points with 5:26 left in the third quarter, outscored the Monarchs 17-5 in the final period for a 70-63 victory in the semifinals of the Buddy's All-Star Classic. Kenya Edelhart scored a career-high 30 points and Kylie Gallick totaled 26 points with 18 rebounds to lead Ventura (8-2) to the come-from-behind win.

Ventura Downs Long Beach in Tourney Opener

The Ventura College women's basketball team opened the LA Valley Buddy's All-Star Classic with a 72-59 victory over Long Beach Thursday in Valley Glen. Sofia Torres-Reyes scored 21 points to lead VC and Kylie Gallick had her eighth double-double in nine games with 15 points and 20 rebounds. Kenya Edelhart netted 15 in the win and Jasmine Glover scored an efficient nine points while playing outstanding defense for Ventura (7-2).

Buzzer Beater Downs Pirates in Gilcrest Finale

The VC women's basketball team fell victim to a buzzer beater by San Joaquin Delta Saturday as the Pirates fell to the Mustangs 59-57 on the final day of the Gilcrest Invitational at College of the Sequoias in Visalia. Sofia Torres-Reyes scored 18 points, including a 6-7 performance from three, to lead the way for VC (6-2). Kylie Gallick had her string of seven straight double-doubles snapped as she had 12 points and eight rebounds and Kenya Edelhart totaled 12 points, five boards and three assists in the effort.

The Pirates' women's basketball team survived a sub-par performance Thursday, outlasting Chabot 61-56 to move into the semifinals of the 46th Tom Gilcrest Tournament at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia. Kylie Gallick had 15 points and 16 rebounds to lead Ventura (6-0) and Kenya Edelhart netted 11 points in the balanced effort. Sofia Torres-Reyes had nine points, Jasmine Glover added eight, And Haley Bennett pulled in seven boards in the victory.

Strong First Half Moves VC Past Long Beach

The Ventura College women's basketball team shot 62 percent in the first half and opened up a 53-26 lead at halftime in their 85-57 victory over Long Beach Saturday in the VC-Kiwanis Tournament of Champions finale. Kylie Gallick led VC with another In-N-Out double-double of 28 points and 17 rebounds and Sofia Torres-Reyes totaled 15 points with five boards. Kenya Edelhart netted 13 points with four assists in limited action and Jasmine Glover totaled 11 points in the victory for the Pirates (5-0).

Leading wire-to-wire, the Pirates women's basketball team routed West Hills Lemoore 86-44 Thursday in VC's first appearance of the season at the Athletic Event Center. Kylie Gallick posted her fourth straight double-double with 28 points and 17 rebounds and Sofia Torres-Reyes made four three's en route to her 14 points. Jocelyn Contreras quietly totaled 13 points and Jasmine Glover made her season debut with 10 points.

The Pirates' women's basketball team held off a late charge from West Los Angeles SUnday to claim a 57-55 victory in the Wild West Shootout at the Culver City college. Kylie Gallick capped her Tournament Most Valuable Player performance with her third straight double-double, 27 points and 18 rebounds. All-Tournament selection Sofia Torres-Reyes scored 14 points with seven assists and All-Tournament honoree Alisha Cruz-Lisberg netted eight points on top of an outstanding defensive performance for Ventura (3-0).

The Pirates' women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 campaign with a 63-55 victory over Skyline College Friday at the Wild West Shootout at West Los Angeles College in Culver City. Ventura, ranked No. 7 in the Southern California Pre-Season Coaches Poll used a 43-29 advantage in the second half to propel them to victory. Kylie Gallick had a 20-20 double-double with 21 points and 23 rebounds while Sofia Torres-Reyes had 17 points and nine boards. Alisha Curz-Lisberg scored 15 for VC (1-0).
