Ventura native Sydney Gstettenbauer is in her third season assisting with the Pirates' Aquatic family. Having just completing her third season assisting the women's water polo team, Sydney begins her second year assisting the women's swim team specializing in strength and dry land conditioning.
Her aquatic career began at Ventura High School receiving many accolades and recognitions for water polo before she graduated in 2004. Sydney continued her water polo career and education at UC San Diego. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental System-Earth Sciences. Athletically Sydney was named the 2009 NCAA Division II Player of the Year, first-team All-American, first-team All-Conference, and was named to the Academic All-American Team. In 2010 she continued to play water polo internationally with the Adelaide Jets in the Australian National Team League.
In 2009, she earned her certification in personal training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Sydney has continued to develop her education in the fitness industry as a certified instructor from TRX, and a certified spin instructor from Spinning.com. She teaches group classes weekly at a local private studio in Ventura called, V-FIT. She also works as a physical therapy aide at Ventura Orthopedic Physical Therapy Office and is currently working towards fulfilling pre-requisite courses needed to apply for Physical Therapy School.
Sydney continues to seek competitive athletic challenges. She completed her first triathlon at the Ironman Coeur D'Alene in 2014 and has qualified for the 2015 Boston Marathon. Recently she traveled to Greece to run the authentic marathon from Marathon to Athens. Sydney is single and lives in Ventura.
