Nine players from Ventura College's 2019 Western State Conference championship team were honored earlier this spring by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association as Academic All-State honorees. A total of 202 players from the 2019 season were honored by the coaches association for achieving at least a 3.5 grade point average during the last academic year.
The Pirates were led in the classroom by a pair of 4.0 performances during the academic year. Sophomores TJ Foreman and Ethan Balolong each earned all A's during the year to lead the Pirates academically. Meanwhile, sophomore Jackson Hickert and freshman Sam Silverya both earned above a 3.7 GPA to earn recognition as well.
Rounding out the Pirates' list of Academic All-State honorees were freshman Tommy Jamieson, sophomore Sam Langler, freshmen Miles Minier and Arman Muradian, and sophomore AJ Medrano.
The 2019 Pirates posted a 26-17 overall record, 13-7 in the WSC North, sharing the program's first conference title in 13 seasons. The team also had a combined 3.24 GPA, earning an Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association.
