The Western State Conference champion Ventura College baseball team placed four players on the first-team All-WSC list while head coach Jimmy Walker was named co-Coach of the Year in voting by the conference coaches late last month. Outfielders TJ Foreman and Jacob Harris made the conference's top list along with shortstop Gabe Baldovino and starting pitcher Travis Weston.
Foreman rewrote the Pirates' stolen base records with 30 thefts this season and 49 for his career at VC. He also led the team with a .390 batting average with 70 hits, 44 runs and four triples. He was also the gold glove winner in centerfield and was named one of four gold glove winners of the division with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Harris, a freshman, led Ventura with five home runs on the year and a .520 slugging percentage.
Meanwhile, Baldovino led the team with 15 doubles while batting .329 /.401 /.459. He earned the Gold Glove award at shortstop, and was also named a gold glove winner of the division.
Weston was the Pirates' ace in 2019, posting an 8-3 record with two saves in 15 appearances. He had a 2.63 earned run average while striking out 64 batters over 75.1 innings of work.
VC also had six players named second team All-WSC including Junior Sandoval at first base, AJ Medrano at second base and Baylor Tovar at third, Zane Chittenden as a utility player, Ethan Balolong in right field and relief pitcher Jacob Martinez.
Starting pitcher Jackson Hickert, relief pitcher Noah Bullard and catcher Riley Langerman all earned Honorable Mention All-WSC nods.
In addition to Foreman and Baldovino, Balolong and Medrano also earned Gold Glove awards at their respective positions.
The Pirates finished the season with a 26-17 record, 13-7 in WSC North Division play. They claimed a share of their first conference championship since 2006, and received the No. 5 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs, hosting a regional series for the first time in the history of the program.
