VC Track & Field Places 3rd/4th at WSC FinalsApril 26, 2024The Ventura College women's and men's track and field team placed third and fourth, respectively in the Western State Conference Championships that concluded Friday in Bakersfield. Sophia Godina continued her strong season winning the 1500m and placing in the 800m and 5000m to lead the Pirate women and Cassandra O'Reilly claimed gold in the shot put. Erick Tienda paced the men with a 1500m win and by earning points in the 800m and 5k events.

VC Track & Field Has Strong Day at WSC PrelimsApril 19, 2024VC's men's and women's track and field teams had a strong day Friday at the Western State Conference Prelims at Antelope Valley College. Brianna Torres captured gold in the women's 10k final and Trevor McCarthy won the men's javelin final to lead Ventura in the competition. Numerous other Pirates turned in strong performances to qualify for the WSC Finals coming up April 26.

Praite Track Battles Elements at Cerritos and Azusa PacificApril 12, 2024The Pirates' men's and women's track and field teams split their time Friday, with most competing at the Cerritos Invitational while a handful traveled to the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University. VC performances were highlighted by Carlos Oregel in the 3000m steeplechase at Cerritos while Erick Tienda and Sophia Godina produced top times in the 1500m races at APU.

Track & Field Excels at Moorpark Invite Tune-Up MeetMarch 29, 2024The Ventura College Track and Field team showcased their talent at the Moorpark Invitational last Friday, using the meet as a tune-up for upcoming competitions. Erick Tienda, Sophia Godina and Brooke Pyle all claimed individual golds for the Pirates while Trevor McCarthy, Sam McKenzie and Savannah Sprinkle also had solid performances for VC.

VC Women 1st, Men 2nd at WSC Coastal MeetMarch 22, 2024On a Chamber of Commerce day in Ventura, the Pirates' track and field teams hosted the Western State Conference Coastal meet Friday with the women claiming first place of the six competing teams and the men coming in second. Sofia Godina led the women wit hthree gold medal performances while Erick Tienda set a new school record in the 300m run.

Pirates Excel at Cal State LA InvitationalMarch 16, 2024The Ventura College track and field team showcased outstanding performances at the highly competitive Cal State Los Angeles Invitational Saturday at Jesse Owens Track. Both the men's and women's teams delivered stellar performances, with numerous lifetime bests and notable achievements, including highlights from Charys Pyle and sister Brooke Pyle on the women's side and Thomas Dore and Trevor McCarthy for the Pirate men. The achievements solidified VC's status as top contender in the Western State Conference.

Erick Tienda's performance in the 800m highlighted the efforts by the men's team while Sophia Godina continued her dominance in the 5k run. VC's men's 4x100m relay team of Micah Contreras, Trevor McCarthy, Andrew Stuart and Thomas Dore also had a strong showing winning their event.

Pirates M & W Track & Field Both Win WSC North MeetFebruary 23, 2024In a display of talent and teamwork, the VC men's and women's track and field teams emerged victorious at the Western State Conference North Meet in San Luis Obispo. Sophia Godina claimed gold in three individual events while Charys Pyle, Brooke Pyle and Cassandra O'Reilly also posted individual victories. Erick Tienda and Thomas Dore were triple winners to lead the Pirate men. Micah Contreras and Trevor McCarthy also had gold medal performances for Ventura.

Charys Pyle led the Pirate women placing in three events while the men's 4x100 and Sprint Medley relay teams each secured gold medal finishes. Erick Tienda won both the 5k run and the 3000m steeplechase.

Caro Competes in Moorpark Multi for Women's Track & FieldFebruary 02, 2024Ventura College women's track and field freshman Julianne Caro (Simi Valley) made her heptathlon debut this past Thursday and Friday at Moorpark College. The Simi Valley product showcased her versatility and resilience over two days of competition totaling 2,212 points, qualifying her for the Southern California Regionals April 2-3.
