Coach Regalado returns to Pirate baseball for his second stint with the program and third total season coaching at VC. Regalado will serve as the teams' pitching coach, working on a daily basis with the pitching staff on their overall development, while additionally providing input on in-game pitch selection and defensive strategy.
In 2012 Regalado joined the Ventura College coaching staff to serve as the pitching coach. In his first season, Pirates pitchers reduced their team ERA by over one full run, moving from 5.10 in 2011 to 3.91 in 2012. His pitching staff was ranked amongst the top-20 in the state of California during the 2012 season. In two seasons as VC's pitching coach, Regalado worked with over 10 pitchers who would go on to pitch at four-year universities.
In 2014 Regalado took a year away from baseball after the birth of his daughter, Emma, and has returned for the 2015 campaign.
He also served as the pitching coach at Rio Mesa High School in 2009 when the Spartans won their last Pacific View League title.
Prior to college Regalado was a standout pitcher and center fielder at Rio Mesa High School. He was a four-year member of the varsity team and a three-time All-Pacific View League honoree. In 2006 he was selected as the Pacific View League Pitcher of the Year and named to the All-CIF First Team as a utility player.
He joined the VC baseball program in 2007 serving the pitching staff as both a starting pitcher and reliever in his two years on campus, requesting to take over the closer role in 2008. He earned second-team All-WSC honors both seasons and was a member of the Pirates regional team that year.
After Ventura College, Coach Regalado earned a scholarship to pitch at Westmont College for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, redshirting in 2009. In 2010 he lead the Warriors in innings pitched, and in 2011 he was the team's closer with a 2.83 ERA, five saves and a team-leading 19 appearances. Regalado was awarded the Westmont College Baseball ROCK award for consistency and leadership in the program as a senior. He graduated from Westmont with his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology.
