In their inaugural season the Ventura College beach volleyball team continues to play impressive volleyball. In a home contest against Antelope Valley the Pirates picked up a 5-0 win over the Marauders. They then took on Santa Barbara City College's club team in a match in which they dropped three sets to two. The current VC student-athletes of the week Braxton Jessie and Kierra Joyner won both of their matches.

The Pirates continued their dominance of their conference opponents with another shut out win. Ventura won four of the five matches in straight sets and dropped just one set on the day against AVC. Jessie and Joyner won their match by identical scores of 21-9 in each set. Paris Dosch and Brittney Mukhar were winners in straight sets by scores of 21-9 and 21-16 as the Pirates No. 2 team. The No. 1 team of Tori Hiott and Sarah Veloz claimed a 21-11 win, dropped set two 17-21, but rallied to win the third set 15-7 for a match win. Ventura won the final two matches in straight sets against the Marauders.
SBCC (club) 3 Ventura 2
The Pirates had their chances to win the match against the Santa Barbara club team. With the team scores tied 2-2 after the completion of the first four matches the Pirates needed a win at No. 2 to claim the match. The team of Mukhar and Dosch were locked ina 12-12, but the SBCC club rallied to pick up the win and to win th match. Ventura dropped the matches at No. 1, 2 and 3, but were winners at No. 4 and No. 5.
Ventura (8-3, 6-2) will return to the sand on Friday Apr. 22 when they travel to Grossmont College in San Diego for a pair of matches. They will take on Rio Hondo and Grossmont with the day set to begin at 10:00 am.
