Ventura College women's beach volleyball hosted their first ever home contest. Playing against Antelope Valley College and Moorpark College club team, the Pirates earned two victories. VC downed Antelope Valley by a score of 5-0 winning all ten sets contested. Then in the second match of the day Ventura defeated MC club 4-1. Ventura's top team of Sarah Veloz and Tori Hiott won both of their matches on the day.
Ventura (2-1, 1-0) took on the Marauders in a Western State Conference match. The Pirates were dominant in their first ever WSC beach volleyball match winning in each contest and winning each set contested. Veloz and Hiott were winners at 21-13, 21-16. Paris Dosch and Brittney Mukhar played as the Pirates number two team and won in straight sets by scores of 21-5 and 21-9.
VC then took on cross county rival Moorpark's club team and picked up wins in the top four contests and dropped just three sets of the 14 contested sets on the day. Veloz and Hiott again were straight set winners with Dosch and Mukhar following them up as straight set winners. The Pirates No. 3 team of Sierra Joyner and Cassidy Simental won their second contest of the day in three sets. While the VC No. 4 team Cassandra Lacanilao and Cristal Gonzalez won their second straight contest in straight sets. VC dropped the match at No. 5 in three sets.
Ventura will be back in action on Friday Mar. 18 for another doubleheader on the sand courts of Ventura Harbor when they take on Bakersfield first at 10:00 am and then follow it up playing Los Angeles Pierce at 12:00 pm. Both contests are WSC matches.
