Ventura College beach volleyball participated in their first contests as they traveled to California State University Northridge for a pair of matches. Ventura took on El Camino College in their first ever Beach Volleyball contest and dropped a 5-0 decision. Then following the opening game VC took on California State University Northridge in an exhibtion match. Several of the VC beach players were members for the back to back regional playoff teams during indoor season.
In the opening match of the day Ventura (0-1) took on El Camino College and fell in all five contests. Brittney Mukhar and Paris Dosch teamed up at the No. 1 slot both were members of the Pirates fall indoor team. Sarah Veloz and Tori Hiott were the Pirates No. 2 team for VC with Hiott a member of the Pirates indoor team in fall and Veloz was a 2013-14 VC indoor team member and was an assistant coach this fall for the Pirates. The Pirates were unable to pick up a win, but did play several tightly contested matches.
In the second match of the day VC took on CSUN a NCAA division one school. The Pirates utilized the same starting line up from their first match of the day and again were unable to pick up a win. This match served as a scrimmage contest for the Pirates.
It was a historic day for Ventura College athletics as this represented the first official scrimmage for the Pirates 19th team sport. VC will continue their competitive slate on Friday Mar. 11 with a pair of matches at the Ventura Harbor Beach Courts. The day will start with an 10:00 am contest against Antelope Valley College, this will be a conference match. Then at 12:00 pm Ventura will take on the Club team from Moorpark College.
