In historical publications published as far back as 1724, the Pirate flag is referred to as the "Jolly Roger" along with other Pirate legends including burying treasure. In the "Golden Age of Piracy" after the end of the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714, many privateers turned to piracy and decorated their flags with their own designs and variations of the Jolly Roger to identify themselves or communicate at sea. (https://www.heritagedaily.com/2022/06/the-history-of-pirate-flags/143946) Our Pirates follow this tradition with various logos and symbols identifying the teams and the history and legacies associated with each. But no matter what Pirate flag each team fights under, we all fight for the Orange and Black of Ventura College! Official Colors of Ventura College Athletics
