Like getting a call from the Governor at 11:59, the Ventura College Pirate men's cross country team received their reprieve Saturday accepting an at-large spot for the Southern California Regionals to be held Friday Nov. 6 in Van Nuys. The Pirate women qualified for the regionals last week with their fourth place finish at the Western State Conference Championships.
"The young men were really pumped when I called them," said head coach Tony Veney.
"This is a great way for the sophomores to top off their careers and gives the newbies a taste of the post season and build toward next year."
The women's race is scheduled for 10:00 am at Woodley Park in Van Nuys followed by the men's race at 11:00 am.
Qualifiers from these races will compete at the CCCAA State Cross Country Championships Nov. 22 in Fresno.
