Behind 14 kills from Makeda Pelle, the Pirate volleyball team easily swept Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria Friday evening, 25-20, 25-15, 25-8. Tori Hiott contributed nine kills, 10 digs and four aces to the victory for Ventura (8-5, 2-1).
Pelle, a sophomore from Ventura High School, recorded a .522 hitting percentage in the match.
Sarah Veloz had eight kills and two service aces and Cassandra Lacanilao registered 12 digs. Shelby Stanger handed out 34 assists.
The Pirates have four of their next five games at home, next hosting Moorpark on Wednesday Oct. 15 at 6:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center.
