The VC women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to Bakersfield College Thursday afternoon. Elizabeth Nguyen and Alyssa McClain were each double winners in the match, earning a point together in doubles and each winning their respective singles contests.
The Pirates (4-6, 3-6) earned a point in doubles when Nguyen and McClain won their No. 3 match-up 8-0.
Bakersfield then recorded points for wins in Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectivly, before VC came storming back. McClain posted a 6-4, 6-0 win in No. 5 singles and Nguyen prevailed in her No. 4 singles contest 6-3, 7-6. Tanya Thompson evened the match with a victory in No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-2. The Renegades then claimed the match with a win in No. 1 singles.
Ventura next hosts Los Angeles Mission College on Tuesday March 15.
