On a cold and windy day at the VC Tennis Center, the Pirates' women's tennis team swept past visiting Antelope valley 9-0 in a Western State Conference contest on Tuesday. Alyssa Powell and Allie De Marco each recorded love and love victories at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Later, the two also blanked their opponents in No. 1 doubles, and Lea Meschke and Jule Lauinger won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-0.
Meschke was also victorious in No. 1 singles for the Pirates (5-3, 3-2), love and one, and Lauinger won her No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-2. Tricia McClain won in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2, and Chelsea Carmichael prevailed in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-4. McClain and Carmichael then won in No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Ventura will next head to Santa Monica on Thursday Feb. 22 before hosting Saddleback on Friday Feb. 23.
