Praite Track Battles Elements at Cerritos and Azusa Pacific
April 12, 2024The Pirates' men's and women's track and field teams split their time Friday, with most competing at the Cerritos Invitational while a handful traveled to the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University. VC performances were highlighted by Carlos Oregel in the 3000m steeplechase at Cerritos while Erick Tienda and Sophia Godina produced top times in the 1500m races at APU. -
Track & Field Excels at Moorpark Invite Tune-Up Meet
March 29, 2024The Ventura College Track and Field team showcased their talent at the Moorpark Invitational last Friday, using the meet as a tune-up for upcoming competitions. Erick Tienda, Sophia Godina and Brooke Pyle all claimed individual golds for the Pirates while Trevor McCarthy, Sam McKenzie and Savannah Sprinkle also had solid performances for VC.

VC Women 1st, Men 2nd at WSC Coastal Meet
March 22, 2024On a Chamber of Commerce day in Ventura, the Pirates' track and field teams hosted the Western State Conference Coastal meet Friday with the women claiming first place of the six competing teams and the men coming in second. Sofia Godina led the women wit hthree gold medal performances while Erick Tienda set a new school record in the 300m run.

Pirates Excel at Cal State LA Invitational
March 16, 2024The Ventura College track and field team showcased outstanding performances at the highly competitive Cal State Los Angeles Invitational Saturday at Jesse Owens Track. Both the men's and women's teams delivered stellar performances, with numerous lifetime bests and notable achievements, including highlights from Charys Pyle and sister Brooke Pyle on the women's side and Thomas Dore and Trevor McCarthy for the Pirate men. The achievements solidified VC's status as top contender in the Western State Conference.

Ventura College Pirates Shine at Oxy Invitational
March 09, 2024The Pirates' men's and women's track and field teams had some exceptional performances Saturday at the Oxy Invitational hosted by Occidental College in Eagle Rock. Erick Tienda's performance in the 800m highlighted the efforts by the men's team while Sophia Godina continued her dominance in the 5k run. VC's men's 4x100m relay team of Micah Contreras, Trevor McCarthy, Andrew Stuart and Thomas Dore also had a strong showing winning their event.

Pirates M & W Track & Field Both Win WSC North Meet
February 23, 2024In a display of talent and teamwork, the VC men's and women's track and field teams emerged victorious at the Western State Conference North Meet in San Luis Obispo. Sophia Godina claimed gold in three individual events while Charys Pyle, Brooke Pyle and Cassandra O'Reilly also posted individual victories. Erick Tienda and Thomas Dore were triple winners to lead the Pirate men. Micah Contreras and Trevor McCarthy also had gold medal performances for Ventura.

February 16, 2024In a thrilling showcase of talent and determination, the Ventura College Track and Field team hosted the Western State Conference Relays on Friday. Charys Pyle led the Pirate women placing in three events while the men's 4x100 and Sprint Medley relay teams each secured gold medal finishes. Erick Tienda won both the 5k run and the 3000m steeplechase.

Caro Competes in Moorpark Multi for Women's Track & Field
February 02, 2024Ventura College women's track and field freshman Julianne Caro (Simi Valley) made her heptathlon debut this past Thursday and Friday at Moorpark College. The Simi Valley product showcased her versatility and resilience over two days of competition totaling 2,212 points, qualifying her for the Southern California Regionals April 2-3.

Pirate Student Athletes Prominent on Dean's Lists for 22-23
August 07, 2023Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2022-23, achieving an overall 3.29 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a 3.19 overall GPA in the spring semester. A total of 108 Pirates achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher, earning mention on the Dean's List in the fall 2022 term while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 53 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In spring 2023, 110 VC student athletes were named on the Dean's List with 45 posting perfect GPA's.

Four Pirates Earn Track & Field All-American Honors
May 20, 2023At the final athletic event of the 2022-23 academic year, the VC men's and women's track and field teams had four athletes earn All-American honors at the CCCAA State Championships Friday and Saturday in Modesto. Saj Nelson led the contingent with a lifetime best throw in the shot put to finish fifth, while Sopia Godina and Brenda Garcia and Isaiah Marecheau also earned All-American honors at the meet.

Track & Field Sending Five to State
May 12, 2023The VC track and field teams are sending three women and two men to the CCCAA State Championships next week in Modesto. Sophia Godina qualified in two events and will be joined by Brenda Garcia and Saj Nelson for the women while Isaiah Marecheau and Ramire Mateos are advancing for the Pirate men. Overall, Ventura's men placed 12th and the women 16th at the 28-team SoCal Regionals at San Diego Mesa Friday.

Track & Field Men 2nd, Women 4th at WSC's
April 28, 2023Battling through some injuries, the VC men's track and field team were the runner's up at Friday's Western State Championships at Moorpark. The Pirate women came in fourth out of the 11 competing teams. Aam Alfred, Peyton Hoff and Isaiah Marecheau all brought home gold medals for the men while Sophia Godina, Brenda Garcia, Jamie Lozano and Saj Nelson won silver for the women. In total, 10 men and nine women qualified for the Southern California Regionals that begin on Friday May 6.

Ventura Posts Strong Marks at Mt. SAC Invite
April 08, 2023The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational Saturday with more strong marks in a number of events. Adrian Valdez led the men with the sixth-fastest time in VC history in the 800m to pick up the silver medal. Meanwhile, William Boyd had the eighth-fastest time in school history in the 100m. Sophia Godina led the women with the fourth-fastest time at VC in the 800m,also winning silver.

March 31, 2023The VC men's and women's track and field teams traveled across the county Friday to compete in the Moorpark Open Friday with some strong results. William Boyd, Ramiro and the 4x100m relay team of Boyd, AJ Monarres, Thomas Dore and Andrew Stuart all claimed golf for the Pirate men while Samantha McKenzie, Saj Nelson and Brenda Garcia all won events for the Ventura women.

VC Men & Women Both 2nd at WSC Coastal
March 24, 2023The VC men's and women's track and field teams each finished second of six competing teams Friday at the Western State Conference Coastal Meet at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. The Pirate men produced seven individual first place finishes on the day, including two each by Adrian Valdez and Adam Alfred. VC;s women had three of gold medal performances, including one each by Sophia Godina, Jamie Lozano and Saj Nelson.

Small Contingent of Pirates Compete at Redlands
March 17, 2023The VC men's and women's track and field teams sent a small group of throwers and runners to the Redlands Invitational Friday. Competing against NCAA Division I, II and III athletes as well as a few community college teams, Ventura had some string performances. Adam Alfred led the Pirates placing in the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Pirates Compete at Long Beach City, CSU Fullerton and Occidental
March 10, 2023The VC men's and women's track and field teams split their squads over the weekend, competing at the Viking Invitational at Long Beach City College on Friday before throwing at the Ben Brown Invite at Cal State Fullerton and running at the Occidental Distance Carnival Saturday. Isaiah Marecheau won the 100m in Long Beach and anchored the gold medal 4x100m relay with William Boyd, AJ Monarres and Thomas Dore, among other strong performances from the Pirates.

March 04, 2023The VC track and field team competed at the Beach Opener at Long Beach State Friday and Saturday with a number of strong performances. Adrian Valdez led the achievements for the VC men with a 3:59.27 time in the 1500m, the sixth fastest mark in school history. Meanwhile, Brenda Garcia finished first in the 3000m steeplechase for the Pirate women in the meet that featured a number of NCAA Division I athletes.

Pirate Student Athletes Strong in the Classroom
August 19, 2022Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2021-22, achieving an overall 3.26 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a solid 3.19 overall GPA in the spring. A total of 123 Pirates earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2021 with a 3.5 GPA or better while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 51 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In the spring, 112 VC student athletes were featured on the Dean's List with 41 posting perfect GPA's.

Pirate Women Earn WSC Honors
July 19, 2022On the heels of earning their first Western State Conference team championship in 38 years, the Pirates' women's track and field team also claimed the conference's two top individual awards. VC' Stina Johansson and Charlotte Allison were named the WSC's Female Track and Field Athletes of the Year, respectively by the conference coaches following the season.

May 21, 2022Stina Johansson and Charlotte Allison each won gold medals at the CCCAA State Track and Field Championships Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College earning first team All-American honors in leading the VC women's team to a tie for ninth place overall. Citllali Cortez also earned a first-team All-American honors as the Pirate women closed out Ventura's 2021-22 athletic calendar.

More Pirate Track & Field Athletes Qualify for State
May 13, 2022The Ventura College track and field teams competed in the Southern California Regional Finals on Friday at Moorpark with more Pirates punching their tickets for the CCCAA State Championships to be held May 20-21 at Mt. San Antonio College. Six women's athletes qualified for state, led by Stina Johansson's gold in the 300m steeplechase.

Pirate Track Competes in SoCal Regionals
May 06, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Southern California Preliminaries on Friday at Moorpark College with a handful events holding finals. The Pirate women finished the day in fifth place including points form The SoCal Heptathlon event held last month. Stina Johansson, qualified for state in the 10k while Cassandra O'Reilly qualified for state with an 'A' standard throw earlier in the season in the shot put. O'Reilly and Charlotte Allison had previously qualified for state in the heptathlon.

Pirate Women Claim First WSC Title Since 1984.
April 29, 2022On the strength of 11 individual Western State Conference gold medals, including five from Stina Johansson, two each from Ariana Vera and Charlotte Allison along with golds by Cassandra O'Reilly and Citllali Cortez, the Ventura College women's track and field team captured its first WSC team championship in 38 years Friday in Santa Monica. The VC men finished seventh in the conference finals as both teams turn their attention to the SoCal Preliminaries coming up May 6.

April 22, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Western State Conference Preliminaries Friday at the College o fthe Canyons in Santa Clarita. Most of the competition was about qualifying for the conference finals on April 29, but five events were contested to the end for both the men and women. Charlotte Allison and Stina Johansson claimed golds for the Pirate women while Josh Weinerth grabbed a bronze for the Ventura men.

Mt. SAC Relays Provides Early State Test for Pirate Track & Field
April 09, 2022The Pirates' track and field teams competed in the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday, putting up strong marks in an early state championship preview in some key events. The VC women's 4x100m relay team of Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera, Citlalli Cortez and Cassandra O' Reailly ran a season best, and they also had standout performances individually. The Men's 4x100m relay quartet of Jaedon Rogers, Ethan Figlio, Isaiah Martinez Spence and Julian Gibson also ran a strong race at Ventura's final tune-up before the Western Satte Conference Preliminaries.

VC's O'Reilly, Allison Shine at SoCal Heptathlon
April 06, 2022VC track and field athletes Cassandra O'Reilly and Charlotte Allison produced a great results over two days of competition Tuesday at Wednesday at the Southern California Heptathlon at El Camino College in Torrance. O'Reilly had lifetime best marks in four events and had a competition-best throw in the shot put by five feet to place sixth in the event. Allison, meanwhile, had four lifetime bests in the seven events and placed second in the high jump to come in seventh overall. Both qualified for the state championships to be held May 20-21.

VC Women Tie for 1st at WSC-Coast Track Meet
April 01, 2022The Ventura College women's track and field team had an amazing day Friday, earning 151 points to claim a first place tie with host Cuesta at the Western State Conference Coast meet in San Luis Obispo. Stina Johansson was a triple winner on the day while Charlotte Allison claimed two golds. Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera and Citllali Cortez also produced first place finishes. Danilo Juarez recorded the Pirate men's lone gold medal on the day.

March 19, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Franson Classic at Asuza Pacific University on Saturday with more solid results from multiple athletes. Aubriana Smith and Ariana Vera headlined accomplishments on the women's side in the 100m and 200m, respectively. Meanwhile Jaedon Rogers continued to excel in the triple jump and Ramiro Mateos made a strong debut in the 3000m steeplechase for the Pirate men.

March 12, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic Saturday in Eagle Rock with several season-best performances. Jaedon Rogers won silver in the men's long jump against a host of two-year and four-year schools while the women's 4x100m relay team of Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera, Nicole Rivera Cortez and Citlalli Cortez finished fifth overall.
