Ventura Swim Teams Solid at Pasadena Invitational

VC sophomore Maria Petraitis came in second in the 200-yard breast stroke and sixth in the 400-yard individual medley Saturday at the Pasadena Invitational.  She was also part of two strong relays as the Pirate women finished seventh of 19 teams despite participating in one of the two days of the event.  The Pirate men finished seventh of 16 teams.
VC sophomore Maria Petraitis came in second in the 200-yard breast stroke and sixth in the 400-yard individual medley Saturday at the Pasadena Invitational. She was also part of two strong relays as the Pirate women finished seventh of 19 teams despite participating in one of the two days of the event. The Pirate men finished seventh of 16 teams.

The VC men's and women's swim teams had solid performances Saturday at the Pasadena Invitational.  Both teams came in seventh overall, the men out of 16 scoring teams and the women out of 19 teams, despite swimming mainly on one day of the two-day event.  Maria Petraitis and Brittany Oliver both had excellent days for the women while Deonn Crilly had the best finish of the meet for the VC men.

Petraitis had the best finish of the day of the Pirate women, a second place finish the 200-yard breast stroke.  She also came in sixth in the 400-yard individual medley. Oliver came in fifth in the 1,650 freestyle and was sixth in the 500-yard free. Alejendra Medina placed eighth in both the 400-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly. Paige Treloar-Ballard was fifth in the 200-yard fly. Ventura's 200-yard medley relay team of Kelsey Golden, Petraitis, Treloar-Ballard and Kaitlyn Peters was third while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Golden, Oliver, Trealor-Ballard and Peters finished fourth.

Crilly was third in the 3m diving competition and also placed sixth in the 1m competition. David Kromka was fourth in the 1m diving event and seventh in the 3m event. Thomas Bunker finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle while Kaleb Rodarte came in eighth in the 400-yard IM. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jack BurleighDavid Peterson, Rodarte and Jack Pickett posted the Pirates' best finish of the meet in fourth. Meanwhile the 200-yard medley relay team of Burleigh, Rodarte, Derek Krzyski and Pickett came in seventh.

The Pirate divers will travel to the Western State Conference/SoCal Diving Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15 at El Camino College in Torrance. Then the teams will travel to Allan Hancock COllege in Santa Maria for the WSC Championships April 20-22.
