John Raymond joins the Ventura College coaching staff for his first year as the Offensive Line coach and run game coordinator in 2013.
Raymond was a three sport athlete at Buena High School gaining varsity letters in football, wrestling and track and field. While with the Bulldogs, he helped open holes for George Keiaho who broke many Ventura County rushing records, and helped Buena qualify for the CIF playoffs. Raymond was named Ventura County Lineman of the Year and received All-Channel League, all-county and all-state honors.
Raymond continued his career at Moorpark College where he earned All-Western State Conference honors for two seasons. He also received honorable mention All-American recognition as a sophomore. Raymond was heavily recruited for football and track and field out of Moorpark College. It was current VC head coach Steve Mooshagian who successfully recruited Raymond to play for the Pittsburgh Panthers for the 1997 campaign.
Raymond finished up his career at the University of Sioux Falls (SD) (USF) where he participated in the NAIA National Championship game. Near the end of his final season, Raymond suffered a career ending injury. He finished up his schooling and received a BA in History from USF.
In 2000 Raymond was selected by a Ventura County Star committee to be honored as part of the All-Century team for Ventura County for his efforts at Buena High School.
Raymond is now married and is raising five children. He has had a successful career in software sales.
Raymond brings experience at every level of college football and will take offensive line play to the next level for the VC Pirates. His goal is to make Ventura College Football known for exceptional offensive line play.
