
VC running back Quran Gossett and defensive back Zane Carter each have received All-American honors from the California Community College Football Coaches Association. In a list published by the JC Athletic Bureau, Gossett earned his All-American nod as an all-Purpose back and Carter was named All-American as a defensive back. In the same release, Gossett, Daniel Duran and Jayon Farrar were named All-State on offense while Carter received All-State recognition on defense.
Gossett, a sophomore from Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara, led the Pirates with 1,073 rushing yards on the season with nine touchdowns. He also totaled 37 pass receptions for 308 more yards and three more trips to paydirt. in total, he led the Pirates with 1,381 all-purpose yards in 11 games played.
Carter was a constant presence in the defensive backfield for VC in 2024. The Buena High School product led the team with 88 tackles, 50 solo, and had four interceptions. He bropke up three passes and forced two fumbles, recovering one.
In addition to the All-American honors, Gossett and Carter also received first team All-State accolades for Region III. Joining them were quarterback Duran and wide receiver Farrar.
Ventura finished the season with an 8-3 record, the seventh 8-win season for the Pirates in the past nine seasons and ninth overall in the 14-year tenure of head coach Steve Mooshagian. They were 5-2 in Northern Conference games finishing as the league runner-up. The season culminated with an exciting 39-33 Pirate victory at the VC Sportsplex in the Scooter's BBQ Beach Bowl.
