
For the third straight season, and the six th time in seven seasons, the Ventura College football team have qualified for the Southern California Football Association Final Four Playoffs. VC (7-3), the No. 3-seed as the champions of the Northern Conference, will travel to No. 2 Fullerton (10-0), winner of the Southern Conference for a noon kickoff on Saturday Nov. 25. In the other semifinal, No. 1 Mt. San Antonio (10-0) hosts No. 4 Riverside (9-1) at 6:00 pm.
Ventura is playing in the post season for the 12th consecutive season under head coach Steve Mooshagian.
The Pirates and Hornets last played in 2019, a thrilling 48-47 win for VC in overtime. The Pirates also captured a forfeit win early in 2018 before capturing the SCFA championship and advancing to the state title game. Ventura dropped a 48-42 decision at Fullerton in the 2016 SCFA semifinals.
Although the Pirates and Hornets did not play this season, they did have three common opponents. FC defeated Santa Barbara 27-14 on Sept. 2 while the Pirates beat the Vaqueros 56-25 on Sept. 30. Ventura dropped a 21-19 decision at Canyons last week and the Hornets defeated the Cougars 26-14 in week 2 on Sept. 9. Meanwhile, Fullerton defeated Saddleback 49-30 on Nov. 4 and Ventura beat the Bobcats 35-30 in the season opener on Sept. 2.
