The regular season is complete and the power rankings are in. The Ventura College football team is seeded No. 4 in the Southern California Football Association power rankings and will travel to No. 1 Fullerton on Saturday Nov. 19 for its third appearance in the CCCCAA State Playoffs in the past five years. The Pirates (8-2) will play the Hornets (9-1) at Yorba Linda High School in the National Bowl. It is VC's sixth consecutive bowl game under head coach Steve Mooshagian.
Ventura is riding a five-game winning streak into the post-season after sweeping its way through the Northern Conference en rout to its third conference title in a row and its fourth in the past five seasons. Fullerton, who has been among the top-ranked teams all season, technically received an at-large berth into the playoffs, as it tied for the Southern Conference title, but lost the auutomatic bid to No. 3 Saddleback (9-1) by virtue of a 30-27 loss to the Gauchos on Oct. 22.
Saddleback will visit No. 2 Riverside (9-1) for the Southern California Bowl in the other SCFA semifinal.
Saturday's VC-Fullerton game can be seen live on the VC Sports Network with kickoff scheduled at 1:00 pm in Yorba Linda.
