Pirate linebacker Darrian McIntyre earned his second straight Southern California Football Association Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor, and running back Isaiah Brown earned the SCFA's Offensive Player of the Week award for their performances in VC's 34-14 win at Orange Coast Saturday. It is the third week in a row in which the Pirates have had two players honored with player of the Week awards.
McIntyre, a sophomore from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., continues to lead the SCFA in tackles, recording 14 stops in Costa Mesa, eight of the solo variety. He also had a tackle for a loss and was a key performer on the Pirates' kickoff coverage team with a pair of stops in the 34-14 victory.
Brown, a sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, had a stellar performance with 130 all-purpose yards. He carried the ball 11 times for 99 yards, including a dazzling 16 yard scamper to set up the Pirates' game-sealing touchdown in the fourth quarter. He also had a pair of pass receptions for 31 yards and two assisted tackles on kickoff coverage in VC's first road win of the young season.
