A pair of East County products led the Ventura College football team to a 48-21 win over their East County rival, Moorpark on Saturday, and running back Aaron Stanton and defensive lineman Dylan Boyce have been honored as this week'd Southern California Football Association Northern Conference Players of the Week on offense and defense, respectively.
Stanton, who hails from Moorpark High School, carried the ball 25 times, gaining 149 yards with four touchdowns on the ground, and also caought five passes for 83 yards. He totaled 232 yards from scrimmage in the Pirates' win over his hometown team.
Boyce, who prepped at Simi Valley High School, picked off a Raider pass on the second play from scrimmage, returning it 15 yards to paydirt for VC's first score of the game. It was Boyce's second pick-six in as many weeks. Additionally he posted five tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks.
