BASEBALL: The Pirate baseball team allowed four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning before staging a comeback with a run in the sixth and four scores in the eighth to defeat Mt. San Antonio College 5-4 Friday under the lights in Walnut. Alex Van Es came in with 4.1 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his first win and Bradley Fullerton had a pair of RBI and scored the winning run to lead the opportunistic Pirate offense. Tim Ginther had a hit, scored a run, and batted in a run and Harrison Crawford knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning with a single.
The Pirates head into the final week of the season with a pair of games remaining against Allan Hancock College. VC will host the Bulldogs on Tuesday April 22 at 2:30 pm in their final home contest before traveling to Santa Maria on Thursday April 24 to close the season.
