Pirate Student Athletes Strong in the ClassroomAugust 19, 2022Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2021-22, achieving an overall 3.26 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a solid 3.19 overall GPA in the spring. A total of 123 Pirates earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2021 with a 3.5 GPA or better while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 51 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In the spring, 112 VC student athletes were featured on the Dean's List with 41 posting perfect GPA's.

Marchese and Carter Finish in State's Top-10May 14, 2022VC's beach volleyball duo of Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter finished in the Top-10 in the state Saturday at the CCCAA State Pairs Tournament in Irvine. After winning two matches on Friday, the pair dropped a decision in the Round of 16 Saturday to bring their season to a close.

Marchese and Carter Advance in State Pairs TournamentMay 13, 2022After a hot day of pool play in Irvine Friday, VC's beach volleyball duo of Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter advanced to Saturdays' Sweet 16 in the CCCAA State Pairs Tournament. The pair won two matches and dropped another to place second in their pool of four teams, moving on to Saturday's finals. Meanwhile Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia along with Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville also competed, making VC's strongest appearance yet at the state pairs level.

Three VC Pairs Seeded in SoCal Top-13May 07, 2022Three VC beach volleyball duos are headed to next week's CCCAA State Championships in Southern California's Top-13 after the completion of play at the SoCal Pairs Championships at El Camino College Saturday. After advancing to the regional quarterfinals, Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter are SoCal's No. 8 team while Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville will head to state as SoCal's No. 11 seed. Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia will take to the court next week as the No. 13 team from Southern California.

Three VC Pairs Headed to State, Marchese and Carter to QuartersMay 06, 2022The Pirates' beach volleyball team had three pairs teams advance to the CCCAA State Pairs Tournament Friday at the Southern California Championships at El Camino College in Torrance. Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter, Alexis Baloyo and Amelia Zubia, and Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville all won their Round of 32 matches to qualify for the final event of the season next weekend. Marchese and Carter also won their second match of the day to move into the quarterfinals on Saturday May 7.

Beach Volleyball Season Ends in RegionalsMay 03, 2022The VC beach volleyball team had its 2022 season come to an end Tuesday in the Southern California Regionals in Huntington Beach. The No. 9-seeded Pirates of VC dropped a competitive sweep to No.1-seeded Pirates of Orange Coast before falling 4-1 to No. 8-seeded Santa Barbara. Ventura's duo of Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia produced the only victory of the day against the Vaqueros.

Marchese & Carter WSC Runner-Up, Three Pairs to SoCal'sApril 30, 2022VC's beach volleyball duo of Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter won a pair of matches Saturday before falling in the Western State Conference Tournament final at the Ventura Harbor Cove Courts. Meanwhile, VC's teams of Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia placed fifth and Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville were sixth on the final day of WSC competition. All three pairs will advance to the SoCal Regional Tournament May 6 at El Camino College.

Three Pairs Advance to Beach Volleyball QuarterfinalsApril 29, 2022Three pairs of Pirates advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Western State Conference Tournament Friday at Santa Barbara's East Beach. VC's team of Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia will take on teammates Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter in one quarterfinal while Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville will play in another Saturday morning April 30 beginning at 10:00 am at the Ventura Harbor Cove Courts.

Beach volleyball Heading to Southern California RegionalsApril 26, 2022For the fourth time in five opportunities, the Ventura College beach volleyball team is headed to the post-season. The Pirates (14-4) have been seeded No. 9 in Southern California and will travel to No. 1 Orange Coast to take on the Pirates of the South and No. 8 Santa Barbara in the CCCAA SoCal Regional playoffs. The regionals will be hosted by OCC on Tuesday May 3 in Huntington Beach.

Pirates Sweep Regular Season Finale vs. BC, MCApril 22, 2022The Ventura College beach volleyball team swept its regular season finale on Friday, defeating Bakersfield and Moorpark at Ocean Beach in Santa Monica. The Pirates started the day with a 5-0 victory over the Renegades before blanking the Raiders 5-0 in the nightcap. VC's No. 4 pair of Grace Williams and Madelyn Grajeda finished early in each of their matches to lead the Pirates (14-4, 8-2), who clinched the runner-up position in the Western State Conference standings.

Beach Volleyball Splits Two Conference MatchesApril 08, 2022The VC beach volleyball team split a pair of Western State Conference matches Friday in the team's only "home" date of the season. The Pirates fell to Santa Barbara 3-2 in the early match before coming back to blank Santa Monica 5-0. The No. 3 team of Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville were 2-0 on the day with a three-set win over SBCC and a forfeit victory over SMC while the No. 2's of Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter defeated Santa Monica after a narrow loss to Santa Barbara.

The Pirates defeated Glendale 5-0 in the opener before blanking Moorpark in the second match of the morning. VC's No. 1 pair of Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia, and the No. 3 team of Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville each swept their two contests of the day.

The Pirates defeated "host" Bakersfield 4-1 before falling in a close match to Santa Barbara 3-2. VC's No. 5 pair of Grace Williams and Madelyn Grajeda won both of their matches on the day.

Ventura Opens WSC With Two Wins at the BeachMarch 18, 2022The Ventura College beach volleyball team returned to the Ventura Harbor Courts for the first time this season to open Western State Conference play in a pair of matches hosted by Moorpark College. The Pirates (8-2, 2-0) swept Glendale 5-0 in their first match of the day before defeating Santa Monica 4-1. Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia won a pair of matches in the No. 1 slot while Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville won Nos. 2 and 3 matches against the Vaqueros and Corsairs, respectively.

The Pirates (6-2) lost a narrow decision to NCAA Division II Cal State Los Angeles before sweeping Golden West College 5-0. The Pirates' No. 3 team of Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville had a pair of wins on the day, as did the No. 5 pair of Grace Williams and Madelyn Grejada.

Pirates Win Pair in Huntington BeachFebruary 11, 2022The VC beach volleyball team won a pair of matches in Huntington Beach on Friday, defeating Rio Hondo 4-1 before sweeping host Santa Ana 5--. Monica Montoya and Lexi Donnelly led the way with a pair of sweeps in their No. 4 slot while Alexis Baloyo and Amelie Zubia (No. 1), Grace Williams and Madelyn Grajeda (No. 3), and Amaris Garcia and Katey Mulville (No. 5) also recorded two wins on the day.

Beach Volleyball Begins 2022 With Two SweepsFebruary 04, 2022The VC beach volleyball team opened their 2022 season with a pair of 5-0 sweeps at Mt. San Antonio College Friday. The Pirates began the day with a win over Riverside before besting the hosts in their second contest. The pairs of Savannah Marchese and Averi Carter, and Grace Williams and Madelyn Grajada both did not drop a set in posting victories against the Tigers and Mounties, respectively.
