The VC beach volleyball team did not drop a set Friday, sweeping two Western State Conference opponents in matches held at Cal State Bakersfield. The Pirates (8-4, 4-0) easily defeated Glendale in the opener before handling Victor Valley in the nightcap. Shantalle Ruiz and Kasie Spencer produced the biggest wins of the day at their No. 3 slot, winning 21-7, 21-7 against Glendale, and 21-9, 21-9 against Victor Valley.
VC's No. 4 duo of Brooklyn Wallet and Faith Mackie defeated their Glendale opponents 21-8, 21-11 while Morgan Gallagher and Jordan Neria won in the No. 2 slot, 21-17, 21-10. The No. 1 pair of Raphaella Rosales and Vanessa Ihrke posted a 21-13, 23-21 victory over the Vaqueros. Ventura won the No. 5 match by forfeit.
Against Victor Valley, Kambria Dowling and Payton Greiner cruised to a win at no. 5, 21-3, 21-0 and Wallet and Mackie triumphed 21-8, 21-6. Gallagher and Neria won at No. 2, 21-10, 21-7 while Rosales and Ihrke won at No. 1, 21-16, 21-11.
The Pirates return to Cal State Bakersfield on Friday march 29 to take on Santa Monica and Santa Barbara. VC returns home on Friday April 5 for a pair of matches.
