VC alumnus Shayle Barrus joined the VC water polo coaching staff following her graduation from VC in 2020.

Shayle has been playing water polo since 2013 when she joined the Thousand Oaks High School team as a freshman. She’s played club for South Coast Aquatics and transferred to Moorpark High School for her junior and senior seasons. She began coaching with the Musketeers the summer after her graduation in 2018, and has completed three years assisting with the program before moving to assist Rio Mesa High School's girl’s water polo team until 2022.

Shayle played at Ventura College during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, receiving multiple awards including an All-American nod as a sophomore.  She was the Team MVP in 2019, setting a new single-season school record for saves with 284 saves.

Shayle started coaching for VC in 2020, and has assisted in building successful teams since. She is excited to see how the team continues to grow and improve as she assists head coach Linda Wright.
