Women's Water Polo in Playoffs at SoCal No. 6

The Pirates' women's water polo team has qualified for the 3C2A Southern California Playoffs for the fifth straight season, earning the No. 6 seed in the regional bracket. Ventura (20-10) will open the postseason against No. 13 Los Angeles Valley (16-10) at 3:15 pm Thursday Nov. 9 at Citrus College in Glendora. The winner of that game will face No. 3 Saddleback on Friday Nov. 10 at 5:45 pm.

VC, the runner-up in the Western State Conference defeated LA Valley on Oct. 4, 15-8, at the Ventura Aquatic Center. The Monarchs tied for fifth in the recent WSC Tournament falling to fourth-place Cuesta. The Pirates defeated Citrus in the WSC Tournament before falling to the state No. 1 Santa Barbara in the WSC finals.

The Pirates have played Saddleback three times already this season, falling in all three in competitive games. VC dropped a 14-8 decision to the Bobcats on Sept. 8 at Orange Coast before falling 10-6 on Sept. 23 at Mt. San Antonio. Ventura and Saddleback played for the third time on Oct. 21 in Long Beach with the Bobcats coming out on top 14-5.

Santa Barbara earned the No. 1 seed in the regionals with Riverside at No. 2 and Orange Coast at No. 4. The top two teams in the regional will advance to the 3C2A State Final Four on Nov. 17-18
