Santos, Ribbers Earn All-SoCal Accolades

Ventura's Kendal Santos and Kendall Ribbers were each named second-team All-Southern California in voting by the region's women's water polo coaches in November. Santos' honor came on top of a first team All-Western State Conference honor while Ribbers had previously been named second team All-WSC for the Pirates.

Santos was a standout on both ends of the pool for the Pirates in 2022. The Camarillo High School alumna scored 51 goals with 39 assists, both second on the team. She also drew 32 ejections and led the defense with 75 steals.

Ribbers, meanwhile, also was a strong player offensively and defensively. As one of three Pirates to start all 26 games, she recorded 39 goals and 24 assists while drawing 32 ejections. Ribbers, who graduated from Thousand Oaks High School, also grabbed 22 steals defensively.

Ventura turned in a 15-11 season, 4-3 in WSC games. They advanced to the conference title game for the third straight season, finishing as the WSC runner-up. The Pirates qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs, dropping their first round match-up by a 13-12 score.
