Women's Water Polo Heads to Post-Season

The VC women's water polo team is headed to the playoffs. The Pirates (15-10) received the No. 9 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs and will face No. 8 Mt. San Antonio (16-9) in a first round game on Thursday in Long Beach. The first sprint is slated to begin at 9:00 am at Long Beach City College.

Ventura finished in second place in the Western State Conference, only behind top-seeded Santa Barbara. The Pirates are led by a pair of freshmen, Daphne Neilan and Kendal Santos. Neilan is VC's leading scorer with 63 goals and 68 steals, while Santos scored 48 goals with a team-high 71 steals. Emily Baughn leads the team with 47 assists. Goalie Ahna Davis anchors the back of the Ventura defense with 178 saves in the cage with a 57 percent save rate.

Mt. San Antonio finished in second place in the South Coast Conference behind No. 3 Long Beach.

The winner of Thursday morning's game will face No. 1 Santa Barbara on Friday Nov. 11.
