Pirate Women Win Big in Final Home Game

VC freshman Jessica Garcia scored three goals Wednesday in the Pirates' 16-1 triumph over Santa Monica in Ventura's final home game of the season.

The Pirates' women's water polo team scored on their first possession of the game and never looked back i their 16-1 victory over Santa Monica in VC's final home appearance of the 2022 season.Ventura had a balanced attack with 10 different players scoring, led by four goals from Daphne Neilan and three scores by Jessica Garcia. Emily Baughn and Shella Norman each handed out three assists in the game while Kendal Santos and Gabrielle MacNeill recorded five and four steals, respectively.

It was never really a competitive contest as Ventura (9-6, 3-1) netted six goals in the first eight minutes of the game and they led 9-1 at halftime.

The victory truly was a team effort with 10 players scoring a goal, eight handing out an assist, and 11 pulling in a steal. 

The Pirates next travel to Long Beach for the Battle of the Beach Tournament Friday and Saturday Oct. 21 and 22.
