Women's Polo Has Difficult Day in the Pool

The Ventura College women's water polo team had a difficult day, dropping their Western State Conference game at Santa Barbara 16-4 Wednesday. Kendall Ribbers scored a pair of goals to lead he Pirate offense and Emily Baughn had two assists, four drawn ejections and a pair of steals in the game.

The Pirates, ranked No. 9 in the most recent state rankings, could not keep up with No. 3-ranked Santa Barbara in the early going, falling behind 11-0 by halftime. 

Ribbers scored twice in the third quarter while Caitlyn Hilgenberg and Daphne Neilan each scored in the final period.

Neilan also grabbed three steals in the game and Kendal Santos and Ribbers each had a pair of thefts. 

The Pirates will be at home this coming weekend with their annual Ventura Tournament at the Ventura Aquatic Center. VC opens with Pasadena at 9:00 am on Friday Oct. 7 before playing Golden West at 5:45 pm. On Saturday Oct. 8, Ventura hosts Mt. San Antonio at 8:00 am and Merced at 6:00 pm.
