VC Claims Final Game of Ventura Tournament

The VC women's water polo team made it a 31 weekend with a 12-7 triumph over Mt. San Antonio College in their finale at the Ventura Tournament at the Ventura Aquatic Center on Saturday. Anna Lowe had three goals and four assists while Lauren Mora scored three times with a pair of steals to lead the way. Fiona Watkins had two scores with six steals and Katie Falls recorded seven saves in the cage for the Pirates (12-3, 1-1).

In a tight first quarter, Mora got the Pirates on the board with a 1-up goal at the 4:48 mark from an assist by Megan Findlay. Lowe also converted a 1-up score with 2:42 on the clock and VC led 2-1 at the quarter break.

Ventura led 3-2 midway through the second period before Findlay and Lowe found the inside of the cage in the final two minutes for a 5-2 halftime advantage.

Following a Mt. SAC goal to begin the third stanza, Ventura answered with four unanswered goals to break the game open, 9-4.

Findlay finished with a pair of goals, two drawn ejections and an assist while Kiran Shah scored twice with three steals defensively.

The Pirates return to Western State Conference action Wednesday Oct. 13 at Santa Monica before two conference games at home on Friday Oct. 15 against Cuesta and LA Pierce.
