Barrus, Lipsky and Reyes Lead WPolo All-WSC Honorees

Goalie Shayle Barrus, defender Raylynn Lipsky and attacker Drew Reyes led the Pirates' women's water polo list of All-Western State Conference honorees, as voted by conference coaches earlier this month. The trio each earned first team honors while Cali Iadevaia and Abby Coker each were named second team All-WSC. Chloe Golden, Lauren Mora, Leanna Ramirez and Shaeleigh Russell earned Honorable Mention accolades.

Barrus, a sophomore from Moorpark High School, had a record-setting year in the cage for VC. She recorded a school single-season record 284 saves along with 26 steals anchoring the Pirate defense. Lipsky, also a sophomore from Moorpark, was second in the conference in steals with 89 thefts on the season. Reyes, a Camarillo High School product, was third in the WSC in assists at 46, and also in the Top-10 in steals (48).

Iadevaia and Coker are both sophomores out of Ventura High School. Meanwhile Golden (Oxnard HS) and Russell (Royal HS) both completed their sophomore seasons for the orange and black while Mora (Pacifica HS) and Ramirez (Oxnard HS) were both freshmen in 2019.

The Pirates finished the season with an overall mark of 16-13, defeating LA Valley to earn third place in the WSC Tournament. The Pirates' playoff run was cut short by a minor automobile accident on the way to their first round playoff game.
