A van carrying members of the Ventura College women's water polo team was involved in a traffic accident early Thursday morning. The team was traveling to the Southern California Regional Playoffs in Riverside when the accident occurred on a freeway in San Fernando. All players and coaches in the accident were checked out by medical personnel and no major injuries were reported. However, the team did not participate in its scheduled 11:30 am playoff game against Los Angeles Valley College in Riverside.
All players and coaches had returned to Ventura by the late afternoon on Thursday. The team ends it season with a 16-13 record, finishing with its third place finish in the Western State Conference Tournament last weekend.
