Women's Water Polo Headed to SoCal Regionals

The Ventura College women's water polo team is headed to the playoffs. The Pirates (16-13) received the No. 8 seed in the Southern California Regionals and will take on No. 9 Los Angels Valley (15-13) on Thursday Nov. 14 at 11:30 am in the opening round at Riverside City College. It will be the third meeting in 11 days between the Pirates and Monarchs, who played the regular season finale on Nov. 4 and in the Western State Conference tournament on Nov. 9.

VC and LAVC played their regular season game on Monday Nov. 4 after the match-up was postponed on Oct. 30 due to poor air quality from wildfires in the area. The Monarchs defeated VC 9-7, forcing the Pirates into a play-in game in the Western State Conference Tournament.

In the WSC Championships, VC defeated Cuesta and lost to Santa Barbara, while LA Valley lost to Citrus to force another match-up between the two teams, on Saturday Nov. 9. The Pirates got the best of LAVC in that contest, defeating the Monarchs 8-6 to claim third place in the WSC.

The Regional host is Riverside City College, and they have set up a Regional Tournament Page with all the pertinent information for the weekend. The Pirates' first round match-up will be livestreamed on the RCC YouTube Channel.

The winner of Thursday's VC-LAVC game will face No. 1 Fullerton on Friday Nov. 15 at 2:00 pm.
