Pirates with Strong Effort in Loss at Cal Lutheran

The VC women's water polo team had a strong effort Friday in their 14-10 setback at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks. Sophomore Chloe Golden led the way at both ends of the pool with two goals, two assists and two steals while Cali Iadevaia netted a pair of scores with an assist and one drawn ejection. Shaeleigh Russell scored twice with an assist and Leanna Ramirez also recorded two goals.

Ventura (14-11, 2-3) trailed the Regals 3-2 after one quarter of play before exploding for five goals in the second to take a 7-4 halftime advantage. Cal Lu, an NCAA Division III school, came back with a 7-goal third quarter to reestablish control.

Drew Reyes scored a goal with an assist and two drawn ejections for VC while Lauren Mora also found the cage once with two steals. Raylynn Lipsky handed out four helpers. Shayle Barrus had seven saves in goal with a pair of thefts.

Ventura returns to the pool Monday Nov. 4 for a make-up of their Oct. 30 postponed game at Los Angeles Valley College. They will then prepare for the Western State Conference Tournament that begins on Wednesday Nov. 6.
