Women's water polo utility player Raylynn Lipsky leads four Pirates on the first team All-Western State Conference team for the 2018 season. Lipsky, who also earned second team All-Southern California honors, is joined on the first team All-WSC list by goalie Shayle Barrus, center Cali Iadevaia and attacker Drew Reyes. Five other Pirates earned second team or honorable mention all-conference awards.

Lipsky earned second team all-region and first team all-conference honors as the only Pirate to start in all 27 games this season. She was among the conference leaders in goals scored (5th), assists (1st), steals (8th) and exclusions drawn (11th) in WSC matches. She also was near the top of those same categories for the overall season.

Barrus was the Pirates' dual threat, playing in the cage and swimming into the field. She spent a majority of the time this season in the cage, and was second in the WSC in saves. Barrus also spent time in the field, scoring 17 goals with 15 assists and 26 steals for the Pirates.

Iadevaia was Ventura's leading scorer on the season with 77 goals, 25 in conference play. She was fourth overall in the WSC in scoring and second in conference contests. She also had 18 assists and 20 steals on the season and led the team in exclusions drawn with 29.

Reyes, meanwhile, was another multi-facetted player for VC in 2018. She netted 26 goals with 28 assists, 31 steals and 24 exclusions drawn on the year.

All four Pirate first teamers are freshmen.

Sophomore attacker Talullah Lund Sidi and freshman utility player Shayne Naylor garnered second team All-WSC accolades in voting by the conference coaches last month. Sophomore goalie Haley Hall, freshman attacker Chloe Golden and freshman attacker Annie Magno all received honorable mention All-WSC accolades.

The Pirates finished the season at 14-13 overall, 6-3 in conference play. They finished runner up in the conference tournament and ended the season in the CCCAA Southern California Regionals.
