Continuing one of the best seasons in program history, the Pirates' women's water polo team has received the No. 7 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs which begin Thursday Nov. 10 at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. VC (23-8), which has set a new high water mark for victories in the 17-year tenure of head coach Mary Giles, will take on No. 10 Cerritos (16-10) at 11:30 am. The winner of that game will face No. 2 Fullerton (21-8) on Friday at 11:30 am.
The Pirates are led by Paige Treloar-Ballard, the program's all-time single-season and career scoring record holder. She has scored 104 times this season and has 196 goals in her two years for the orange and black.
The Pirates finished second in the Western State Conference thsi season behind top-seed Santa Barbara. Cerritos, meanwhile, was runner-up in the South Coast Conference behind No. 6 Long Beach.
VC has split with the Falcons this season, dropping a 7--6 decision September 16 at the Riverside Tournament before winning 15-9 on Oct. 1 at the San Diego Tournament.
