Paige Treloar-Ballard had three goals and goalie Devon Compton recorded eight saves in the cage as the Pirates' women's water polo team wrapped up the No. 2 seed for next week's Western State Conference Tournament with a 10-4 victory at Cuesta College Wednesday.  Ylva Ostlin had a pair of goals and Brittany Camp had three steals in the final regular season game for Ventura (21-7, 6-1).

The Pirates fell behind 3-1 early in the second quarter before Lauren Wiksell assisted a goal by Kalyn Pina to get things rolling with 3:08 remaining until halftime.  Treloar-Ballard tied the score on the next possession, and Wiksell had another assist, this time to Ostlin to put the Pirates ahead.  Another score by Treloar-Ballard and a last second goal by Wiksell made the score 6-3 for VC at intermission.

Maeve Flynn and Camp each scored third quarter goals to put the Pirates firmly in charge heading into the final eight minutes.

Wiksell and Beth Arbon also had single goals for Ventura in the win.

With the victory, the Pirates equal their second-best win total in team history, matching the 21-7 record posted in 2001, head coach Mary Giles' second season.  The program's best record came in 1999 at 27-6-2.

With the victory, VC will head into next week's WSC Tournament as the No. 2 seed behind Santa Barbara.  The Pirates will likely face Los Angeles Pierce College in the opening game on Thursday Nov. 3 at 9:45 am back at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.  The semifinals will be Thursday afternoon and finals will be Saturday Nov. 5 at 1:30 pm, also in SLO.  Official brackets will be announced at a later date.
