Trip Home From San Diego a Happy One for Pirates

The Pirates' women's water polo team made their trip back from San Diego a good one Saturday with a pair of wins to conclude the San Diego Tournament.  Playing at Mesa College, VC (11-5, 2-1) ran away from Cypress 17-5 before besting Cerritos 15-9.  Paige Treloar-Ballard had her best day of the season with 14 goals scored, five assists, a pair of drawn ejections and seven steals in the two matches.

Ventura 17, Cypress 5
Ventura defeated the Chargers for the second time this season after opening up a 10-2 advantage at halftime.  Treloar-Ballard netted six goals and assisted five more while pulling in five steals on defense. Lauren Wiksell scored three times with four assists and three steals while Ylva Ostlin had two goals, five assists and four steals.  Brittany Camp contributed a pair of scores with three steals and Devon Compton stopped six Cypress shots in goal.

Ventura 15, Cerritos 9
The Pirates avenged a defeat from earlier in the season against the Falcons. Treloar-Ballard continued her hot streak with eight goals and two steals.  Ostlin had four goals with two steals and Maeve Flynn scored twice while contributing four drawn ejections. Wiksell handed out six assists to go with her lone goal.  Valeria Ramirez recorded five saves in goal.

The Pirates have a busy week ahead at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  They will play two matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-8, for a total of six straight home contests.  They host Citrus in a Western State Conference match on Thursday Oct. 6 at 2:15pm before taking on American River College in the nightcap.  They will then host the Ventura Tournament Friday and Saturday.
