Strong Finish Seals Women's Water Polo Win

Sophomore Paige Treloar-Ballard recorded eight goals to go along with two assists, two drawn ejections and a pair of steals to lead the Pirates' women's water polo team to a 16-8 victory at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. Ylva Ostlin netted four scores with three assists in the triumph, VC's fourth consecutive victory.

The Pirates (8-4, 2-1) led 4-2 at the end of one quarter of play, and held an 8-4 halftime advantage. VC scored three times in the third, holding an 11-6 lead before exploding for five goals in the fourth period to set the final margin. 

Lauren Wiksell scored twice with three assists and five steals while Kelsey Golden and Sabrina Cherfane scored one goal each.  Beth Arbon had three assists and four steals and Maeve Flynn had an assist, two drawn ejections and three steals.

The Pirates travel to the San Diego Tournament Friday and Saturday Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.  They will return home for a two-game day on Thursday Oct. 6 against Citrus and American River at the Ventura Aquatic Center before hosting the Ventura Tournament Oct. 7-8.
