Pirates Drop Close Decision at LA Valley

Ventura College women's water polo (13-8, 3-3) traveled to Los Angeles Valley College on Wednesday dropping a tightly played 9-8 game. VC had three players score multiple goals led by Lauren Wiksell with three goals. Paige Treloar-Ballard and Maeve Flynn each scored two goals. Goalie Miranda Campos added eight saves.

VC opened the game with three goals in the first quarter and three goals in the second quarter to take a 6-5 led heading into halftime. The Pirates scored just one goal in the third and fourth quarters each to fall 9-8 after drawing to within one goal late in the fourth quarter.

Raquel Rodriguez added two assists and six steals for the Pirates. While Treloar-Ballard collected four steals of her own. VC as a team was able to draw five ejections versus the Monarchs.

Ventura will be off until Oct. 23 and 24 when they will travel to the Battle at the Beach tournament. They will open up with a pair of games at Cypress College on Oct. 23. The Pirates will return to Western State Conference play on Oct. 28 versus Santa Barbara City College at San Marcos High School for a 5:20 pm game.
