Women's Water Polo Continues Roll Against Santa Monica

The VC women's water polo team jumped out to a 9-4 halftime lead over visiting Santa Monica en route to a 17-6 victory Wednesday at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  Paige Treloar-Ballard led the way with five goals, one assist, two drawn exclusions and two steals.

Ventura (10-6, 3-1) jumped out to a 5-1 advantage after the first eight minutes of play, and outscored the Corsairs 4-1 in the third period.  VC was able to showcase its depth as seven Pirates found the back of the net.

Treloar-Ballard led the Pirate attack, while Lauren Wiksell netted four goals with a pair of assists and one steal. Maeve Flynn added three scores with an assist and two steals and  Cheyanne Irigoyen scored twice with an assist and two thefts. Raquel RodriguezElizabeth Seacord and Mary Beth Schroder all scored one goal.  Rodriguez added three assists and Miranda Campos had three saves in goal. 

The Pirates host the annual Ventura Tournament on Friday and Saturday Oct. 9 and 10 at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  VC will take on Western State Conference rival Cuesta at 11:25 Friday before battling Chaffey at 7:00 pm.  Ventura plays San Diego Miramar and El Camino on Saturday.
