Pirates Win Big Over Bulldogs

For the second straight conference outing, the Ventura College women's water polo team pulled away early en route to a big win.  Wednesday afternoon VC scored the first seven goals of the game in their 14-4 victory over the Allan Hancock Bulldogs at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  Paige Treloar-Ballard had four goals to lead the Pirates (6-4, 2-0), while Maeve Flynn recorded three scores with three assists, three drawn exclusions and two steals.

The Pirates overmatched the Bulldogs from the start, as Danielle Pfeifer scored 15 seconds into the game.  Treloar-Ballard followed up with a score on the next possession and the rout was on.  VC led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter and 10-2 at halftime.

Treloar-Ballard had two assists, two drawn exclusions and a steal to add to her four goals and Kalyn Pina found the back of the net twice.  Brittany Camp had a goal with two assists and two steals while Pfeifer finished with one goal and one drawn exclusion.  Elizabeth Seacord and Cheyanne Irigoyen each scoerd one goal with a steal and Anjali Paramanandam scored once with an assist.  

Miranda Campos finished with five saves in goal and Paramanandam turned back three AHC shots in goal in the second half.

Ventura continues Western State Conference play on Wednesday Sept. 30 at Citrus College in Glendora for a 3:30 pm start time.
