Women's Polo Opens Conference Play With Big Win

It did not take long for the VC women's water polo team to establish themselves in their Western State Conference opener against Los Angeles Pierce College Wednesday afternoon.  The Pirates jumped out to a 4-0 lead in just over two minutes of play en route to their 19-3 victory over the Brahmas at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  Paige Treloar-Ballard led the balanced attack with four goals, three assists, two drawn exclusions and two steals for Ventura (3-2, 1-0).

The Pirates led 5-0 at the end of one quarter of play and 13-2 at halftime.  Ventura added three goals in 1:35 to begin the third period, putting the game on ice.

Raquel Rodriguez had three goals, three assists and two drawn exclusions and Anjali Paramanandam scored twice with two assists.  Maeve Flynn and Cheyanne Irigoyen each netted two scores with an assist and a steal while Kalyn Pina also scored two goals with an assist. Danielle PfeiferLauren WiksellBrittany Camp and Reginae Maturino also scored goals for the Pirates.

Miranda Campos had six saves in goal while not giving up a score during her time in the pool.

Ventura will travel to the Chaffey Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, before hosting Allan hancock College on Wednesday Sept. 23.
