Women's Polo Splits Pair at Central Coast Invitational

The Ventura College women's water polo team traveled to San Luis Obispo Saturday, playing a pair of games in the Central Coast Invitational at Cuesta College.  VC (2-2) lost to Diablo Valley College 12-7 before defeating Sierra College 14-9.  Paige Treloar-Ballard continued her solid play with nine goals while Anjali Paramanandam did a solid job filling in a goalie with 20 saves in the two games.

Ventura 7, Diablo Valley 12
Treloar-Ballard had three gaols and four steals in the loss while Kalyn Pina netted a pair of scores. Brittany Camp and Raquel Rodriguez also netted scores and Paramanandam had 12 blocks in goal.

Ventura 14, Sierra 9
VC came back with a win in the night cap behind Treloar-Ballard's six goals.  Maeve FlynnDanielle Pfeifer and Reginae Maturino each scored two goals while Rodriguez and Cheyanne Irigoyen also found the back of the net. Paramanandam stopped eight Wolverine shots in the cage.

The Pirates open Western State Conference play at home on Wednesday Sept. 16 against Los Angeles Pierce College.  The match is set to begin at 2:15 at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
