Women's Water Polo Splits Opening Day at Cypress

Freshman Paige Treloar-Ballard scored 12 golas in two matches as the VC women's water polo team opened the 2015 season splitting a pair of games at the Cypress Charger Invitational.

The Pirates' women's water polo team split a pair of games to open the 2015 season at the Cypress Charger Invitational Saturday.  VC lost to Long Beach 11-7 in the opener before coming back to defeat host Cypress 10-9 in overtime in the nightcap.  Paige Treloar-Ballard had 12 goals in the two contests for VC.

Ventura 7, Long Beach 11
The Pirates opened the season with a touch loss to the Vikings after being tied at halftime.  Treloar-Ballard found the back of the net five times and Lauren Wiksell scored twice.  Goalie Miranda Campos recorded nine saves.

Ventura 10, Cypres 9 (OT)
The Pirates came back to defeat the host team in their second game of the day.  Treloar-Ballard netted seven goals, her final  one with one second left in overtime.  Wiskell, Maeve Flynn and Cheyanne Irigoyen also added scores in the victory.

VC will face two Northern California opponents at the Central Coast Invitational at Cuesta College on Saturday Sept. 12 before returning home on Wednesday Sept. 16 against Los Angeles Pierce College.
