VC Women 4-0 at the Beach

WOMEN'S WATER POLO:  Stretching their winning streak to six matches, the Ventrua College women's water polo team completed a perfect 4-0 slate at the Battle at the Beach Tournament hosted by Long Beach City College Saturday with a pair of wine, 11-6 over Cuesta and 11-7 against Cerritos. Ashley Runyon continued her strong weekend with five goals and five assists and Lauren McCaslin netted six goals with an assist and a pair of steals for VC (14-8-1, 3-1). Molly Watkins had a great day in goal with 28 saves in the two matches.

Ventura 11, Cuesta 6
The Pirates defeated their conference rival for the second time this season in the morning match. Runyon led the way with three goals, two assists and a steal while Scarlett Lund-Sidi, Jerilyn Hollis, and Brittany McWaid all scored twice. McCaslin and Christina Tellez also netted scores. Watkins had 14 saves in three quarters of play, including 12 in the second half to preserve the victory.

Ventura 11, Cerritos 7
After defeating the Falcons earlier this season for the first time ever, VC made it two wins with their victory in Long Beach. McCaslin exploded for five goals while Hollis and Runyon each had two scores. McWaid and tellez also found the back of the net for Ventura. Runyon dished out three assists and Watkins recorded 14 saves, including seven in the final eight minute period.

Ventura will close Western State Conference play at Los Angeles Valley on Wednesday Oct. 30 before ending the regular season at the Pasadena Mini Tournament on Friday Nov. 1.
