WPolo 1-1 to Finish VC Tourney

WOMEN'S WATER POLO:  In completing the Ventura Tournament Saturday at the Ventura Aquatic Center, the Pirates' women's water polo team posted a 1-1 record, defeating El Camino 11-6 in the morning before closing the weekend with a 10-3 loss to Fullerton. Lauren McCaslin led VC (8-8-1) with four goals, seven steals, and seven drawn ejections in the two matches while Scarlett Lund-Sidi scored three times with a pair of assists and two steals. Molly Watkins had 17 saves for Ventura in goal.

Ventura 11, El Camino 6
The Pirates blew open a close match in the second half, not allowing a Warrior goal in the final 16 minutes. Lund-Sidi led the Pirate effore with three goals, two steals, and an assist and McCaslin scored a pair of goals with four steals. Sarah Shah also found the back of the net twice with an assist and Cecily Loya had a score, two assists and two steals. Jerilyn Hollis scored once with three assists and Brittany McWaid and Justine Legaspi also scored for VC. Vanessa Vega and Watkins split time in the cage, with Vega registering three saves and Watkins recording four.

Ventura 3, Fullerton 10
The Pirates struggled with the highly-ranked Hornets. McCaslin scored two goals with three steals and six drawn ejections and McWaid scored the other VC goal. Hollis had an assist and two steals and Watkins turned back 13 Fullerton shots.

Ventura resumes Western State Conference play traveling to Citrus on Wednesday Oct. 16 for a 4:00 pm match with the Fighting Owls. They will return home on Tuesday Oct. 22 against Santa Monica at 2:15 pm.
